Manual of the Natural History, Geology, and Physics of Greenland and the neighbouring regions, together with instructions suggested by the Arctic Committee of the Royal Society for the use of the Expedition of 1875

In December 1874 the Admiralty advised the Royal Society that it intended to despatch an expedition to ‘reach the North Pole and to explore the coast of Greenland and adjacent lands.’ It asked them to compile a manual of all that was considered useful for the trip and a committee of august members was formed to produce this work. It covers just about everything that was known about the region and arctic exploration at the time and is an invaluable tool to any scholar interested in this period.
