Written by an Oxford History Don C R M F Cruttwell, who also wrote a distinguished history of the Great War, this is the war service story of Cruttwell’s own unit, the 1/4 Royal Berkshire Regiment, a Territorial battalion which arrived in France in March 1915 and joined the 48th (South Midland) Division in May.
