Extract from an official, published account written in October 1944.The Anzio expedition, as far as the First Division was concerned, was laid on in a hurry there were only three weeks for planning and barely a fortnight for amphibious training, waterproofing and preparation for action. Luckily only a small proportion of the Divisional Artillery was involved in the initial assault, the remainder were to drive ashore from LST. 67 Field Regiment and a battery of 6 pounders of 81 Anti-tank Regiment, however, were to go ashore in amphibious ‘Ducks’ and there was some hectic training in the use of these unfamiliar creatures.

History of The First Divisional Artillery,67th Forward Regiment and a battery of 81st Anti-Tank Regiment landed from amphibious Dukws with the first wave; the remainder of the Divisional Artillery followed in Landing Ship, Tank (LST). Very good account of artillery operations at Anzio 1944-45, complete with a roll of awards and a good diagram of the beach head.
