A rifleman’s experiences of two months intensive fighting from May to July 1916. The author was in 2nd KRRC, 2nd Bde, 1st Division and his account opens with a large scale raid by the battalion on the Triangle at Loos which cost 2 KRRC nearly 240 casualties, including Mariner VC, blown to pieces in front of the author. There follows description of bitter fighting at Bazentin and Pozières Ridge where his battalion commander, company commander and sergeant major were killed and Eyre was taken prisoner.
