The Mahratta Cobnfederacy was a loose alliance of Indian rulers, originally back by the French, who strenuously resisted the campaign by the East (India Company to bring India under British rule. It took a series of wars, battles and sieges in the opening years of the 19th century before the mahratta were eventually subdued. This book is the official account of the campaign and is distinguished by particularly fine maps and plans of soime of the war’s principle actions.
