Despite the antics on television of the Warmington on Sea Home Guard platoon, the men of the Home Guard were often experienced soldiers who were just too old for active service overseas. In the Home Guard these men provided what was a fine force in defence of the United Kingdom. Interestingly the Home Guard was disbanded the day before the Germans formed their own Volkssturm.
The pamphlet was used too train men in defence and local counter attack.
Subjects covered include the organisation of defence and battle headquarters, road blocks and counter attack. There are also details of house clearing and house defence, the principles of which have not changed to today.
Amply illustrated with diagrams and a number of photographs of the 3-inch OSB or Smith gun
