FROM COLONIAL WARRIOR TO WESTERN FRONT FLYER The Five Wars of Sydney Herbert Bywater Harris

RRP: £19.99
Winter Sale: £1.60

Sydney Harris, the subject of this biography, was a natural warrior who crammed five wars and several lifetimes into his single span. Running away from home in humdrum Ilford aged 17 to join the Klondike gold rush, he joined the US army and fought against China’s Boxer rebellion and insurrection in the Philippines. On the outbreak of the Great War he joined the Royal Flying Corps as a pilot, was severely wounded, became an instructor and ended the war as a Lt. Col, running a flying school. He joined the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War to escape bankruptcy, but was rescued by the Second World War which saw him join the RAF again when nearly sixty, and serve throughout the conflict in a variety of roles. An exhilarating book about an amazing life.
