DUBNO 1941 The Greatest Tank Battle of the Second World War

RRP: £19.99
Summer Sale: £6.39

A compelling account of one of the most intense armoured engagements in the opening phase of Operation Barbarossa. Recent scholarship considers it the largest tank battle of World War II. Drawing on Soviet sources and written from a Russian perspective it makes a good counterpoint to the German accounts and yet does not shy away from the shortcomings of the Soviet forces. Panzer Group 1 took a severe battering in the battles around Dubno, losing many of its tanks. The Soviet forces took severe casualties, rendering most of its forces non-operational. This defensive success enabled the Germans to continue their offensive, even if it had been delayed substantially by the tenacity of the Soviet counterattack.
