The 6th Manchesters was a TA battalion, largely staffed by white-collar Manchester office workers. Trained in Egypt in 1914, the 6th were thrown into the cauldron of Gallipoli in 1915 and in 1917 were sent to France, where the next year they withstood the German spring offensives and took part in the final 100 days advance.
