The autobiography - posthumously edited by his second wife Dorothy - of AVM Sir Cecil ‘Boy’ Bouchier, one of the most distinguished air commanders of the Second World War. After service as an artilleryman in the Great War, Bouchier learned to fly , joined the RAF and rose to become Head of the Royal Indian Air Force between thre wars. In the Battle of Britain he was a key figure in Fighter Command as Station Commander of the Hornchurch frontline fighter base. He later planned and commanded the RAF’s air cover on D-Day. He took the surrender of the Japanese forces in Burma; commanded Commonwealth occupation forces in Japan; and was British liaision officer at the HQs of Generals MacArthur and Ridgeway during the Korean War. In retirement he raised funds for the re-building of the RAF Church, St Clement Danes, in London. He died in 1979.
