The institution of the Medal for Honor changed all that, but it was not until 1916 that Congress authorised the keeping of a Medal of Honor Roll, together with a modest ten dollar a month pension for recipients. These books contain the names and stories of 3,401 such holders, and is an essential addition to the libraries of all those seriously interested in such medals.
