Here, too, is an account of his exploits as a young captain in the Nicaraguan jungle, his defence of one of his sailors charged with murder and of an old friend charged with treason and plotting the murder of the King. The book takes the reader from Nelson’s birth to his death, drawing on much contemporary correspondence, personal and official. This work has been well received by other naval historians. The illustrations are out of sequence in that the group numbered 21 to 36 have been placed after the group numbered 37 to 55
