This is the story of the last of the wars in the eighteenth century between Britain and France for control of North America. The longstanding and deep-rooted animosity between the two countries had made this final and dramatic confrontation inevitable. The French and Indian war is best remembered for the battle of Quebec, where Wolfe’s brilliant, daring leadership and disciplined British musket fire routed the French during a short but brutal battle. Wolfe himself was shot and killed; he did not live to see Quebec surrender on September 18th, nor to see the British take control of Canada. This DVD features comment and analysis by Dr Scott Lucas of the University of Birmingham, author and historian Stuart Reid, Brian Dunnigan Director of the Old Fort Niagara, plus military experts Kenneth A Hamilton and George A Bray III.
