American Civil War

At the indecisive Battle of Antietam there were more American casualties (some 23,000) on September 17th 1863, the bloodiest single day of the American Civil War, than in either of the world wars. As in many Civil Wars, the 1861-65 war between the North and South pitched state against state, divided friends and families, and reached a pitch of fratricidal violence never seen since. Yet at the war's conclusion, the United States remained a single country, rival Generals resumed pre-war friendships and the great issue of slavery which had sparked the conflict was finally settled. The Naval and Military Press has a complete collection of titles recording this absorbing conflict in all its aspects from political and military histories, biographies of the great commanders and books on uniforms, weapons and tactics. If the Civil War interests you - we have the very book for you.
