Abyssinia 1867-68

The war against the unstable King Theodore of Abyssinia [today's Ethiopia] was caused by the imprisonment of several British subjects by Theodore. In January 1868 a punitive expedition began the long march of 300 miles to Magdala, the Abyssinian capital. After an arduous approach, the city was stormed in April 1868, Theodore committed suicide and the force was withdrawn.
