Posters
We are pleased to offer a fine selection of war posters issued during the First World War from a substantial archive collection formed during the period until recently held by a prominent American institution. Some of these posters are well known, others less so, some by important artists, other anonymous, but they are all rare and remarkable for their survival today. As a visual art form they vary from the most dramatic and emotive images of war and its consequences, to broadsheets containing a simple, but often powerful, message.
