CAMBODIAN DECORATIONS OF HONOR

CAMBODIAN DECORATIONS OF HONOR
As a reference work for the medal collector, this book is an outstanding example. Every ribbon, medal, order and decoration is superbly illustrated in full colour as well as intimately described. The photographer, Louise Goossens, is to be congratulated for providing such first-class pictures and the authors should be proud of themselves for having set down a lasting and accurate record of the many colourful, and to the casual observer confusing, awards made by Cambodia since its independence in 1954. Part of the period under scrutiny was during the genocidal regime of the Khmer Rouge, 1975-79, and inevitably records are notoriously difficult to trace. Although most of the awards fell into disuse during this time, many were resurrected and some remain in use today. The authors have diligently recorded all of the current awards as well as the many obsolete awards of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Khmer Republic (1954-75) and the People’s Republic of Kampuchea and State of Cambodia (1979-93).
