BLACK PROPAGANDA IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR

BLACK PROPAGANDA IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR
The story of British disinformation in the Secpond World War - disseminated by more than fifty fake German radio stations run by Fleet Street veteran Sefton Delmer to undermine the Nazis morale with the aid of jazz - and porn.
Second World War lies and propaganda are most commonly associated with the Nazis’ propaganda minister, Josef Goebbels, but as this book makes very clear, the Allies were no slouch at these black arts either, and there were few lessons that Goebbels could teach some of the characters featured here. Foremost among Britain’s black propagandists was journalist Sefton Delmer, a newspaperman who had known Hitler in Berlin before the war. German-born Delmer created some fifty fake German radio stations which poured a stream of honest news as well as pornography, disinformation, rumours, and scurrilous stories about Nazi leaders into the Reich and occupied Europe. The black propaganda outfit PWE (Poltiical Warfare Executive) also dropped millions of demoralising leaflets aimed at encouraging desertion and sabotage among German forces. Written by a Polish veteran of the underground war, this history of British, German and Polish propaganda gives astonishing insights into the secret side of the Second World War.
