BATTLEGROUND EUROPE: HINDENBURG LINE, CAMBRAI. The Right Hook
An account of the fighting on the right flank of the battle in November/December 1917 and the German counter-offensive. Also a description of the New Zealand Assault in Sep/Oct 1918. Maps, photos and guided tours.
Cambrai is one of the best known battles of the Great War as then one in which massed tanks were used for the first time, bringing a whole new concept to the art of war. It is a fairly compact battlefield and a straightforward battle to follow on the ground. Nevertheless it remains one of the least visited battlefields, and if the reason for this is lack of a guide, this book certainly is a great help to plugging the gap. Not only does it provide a graphic account of the fighting on the right flank of the attack, it also provides a programme of remarkably detailed tours of the area supported with good maps and clear photos setting the actions of 1917 into a present day scene. This book lives up well to the high standard set by the Battleground Europe series
